***A Great Additional Discount Is Available!!---Click on my Name Directly Above ( "Listed by...") to learn about my Multi-Sale Discount Offer in my Closet Profile*** Anne Klein was born as Hannah Golofski to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York on August 3, 1923. After studying fashion at the Traphagen School of Design in New York from 1937 to 1938, she married her first husband, Ben Klein, in the early 1940s, and together they founded Junior Sophisticates. Winner of the Coty American Fashion Critics Award, 1955, 1969, the Neiman Marcus Award, 1959, 1969 and the Lord & Taylor Award, 1964 she rose to prominence as a designer of women's sportswear and apparel, establishing Anne Klein and Co. with fashion guru Gunther Oppenheim in 1968. In 1971, Klein met Tomio Taki from Takihyo who approached her to enter a joint-venture to manufacture in the Far East which didn't materialize but Klein later approached Taki to partner in the company and by 1973 Taki owned 25% of the Anne Klein company. When Klein passed of breast cancer at 50 in 1974, Taki had the largest individual stake in the company so his equity position allowed him to promote the assistant Donna Karan who then led the design-room. Anne Klein, and later Anne Klein II were continued after her death by Donna Karan and Louis Dell'Ollio as head designers until 1985. In 2001, fashion designer Charles Nolan was hired to revive Anne Klein's image as a hipper, more fashion-forward brand until 2002, when he departed to work on Howard Dean's presidential campaign. Anne Klein and Co is currently owned by Jones Apparel Group, who acquired then-parent company Kasper in 2003. Anne's legacy as one of the original founders of Modern American Sportswear continues through today's Anne Klein designs. One such true gem of her ethos is this gorgeous appropriately colored shoe. What a profound memorial to her stamp on the design world and her fight against breast cancer that has become a fight for us all. Unworn, this exquisite shoe has been safely stored in a light and temperature controlled repository. It is flawless. This Pink Genuine Lizard Closed Toe Slingback Pump is simply outstanding. The 4" Slim Rectangular Heel covered in Pink Lizard perfectly complements the elegant lines of this design. A perfectly matched pair, they are a treasure! The distinctive beige ANNE KLEIN box is included with purchase.
