This brand is characterized by minimalism and pure simplicity that permeates through brand logo, its advertising, selling store interior and through the design of cores. But even the simplicity is a main character, he certainly not that much simple, besides that there’s elegance and luxury. ‘’Theory’’ goal is to represent us, costumers, as sophistication and precision in minimalism.
In 2010 ‘’Theory’’ had got a new name in their philosophy and design- Olivier Theyskens– Belgian born designer is consider as one of the most acclaimed and respected designers of his generation. He’s former designer of several major houses, including Rochas and Nina Ricci. He brought to ‘’Theory’’ his chic signature and new fashion line called ‘’Theyskens Theory’’. He took over full design responsibility as the artistic director of this brand. His main idea is clean aesthetic and combining his dark sensibilities in design with its accessible nature. Through this brand he’s trying to point us on Japanese design- “We wanted to take elements from Japanese culture, and use them not to make the models look Japanese, but as design and color inspiration.”
This brand create a project called ‘’Theory Icon Project’’ designed to encourage the development and exposure of iconic initiatives’’. They defines “Iconic” as something that’s in hands of visionary to change the landscape trough its concept and execution. This project is important artistic and creative part of ‘’Theory” brand. Idea of ‘’Theory Icon Project’’ is collaboration with art events, exhibitions and sponsorships, with mission to ‘’ encourage the development and exposure of iconic ideas and initiatives”. They had cooperated with the Public Theater to commemorate the 40th anniversary of HAIR; they supported artistic work of painting performance and installation by David Ellis and few charity work. It’s nice to know that one fashion brand wants to be a part of something bigger than just fashion design, and wide perception in art by supporting other artists and other art fields.
