A Great gift - A pair of mid-century ceramic candle holders by Haeger Pottery in orange and yellow/brown They are reminiscent of a floating petal or leaf that creates a deep well around the candle holder.

Each measures 6 long x 3 3/4 wide. They sit 1.25 high.

Both are in excellent condition with no damage. Date to the 1960's.

Marked, "HAEGER 3004 USA", on the bottoms.

A great example of mid-century Haeger in one of the famous glazes for which the maker is known.

HISTORIQUE: Haeger Potteries, was founded in 1871 on the clay-rich banks of Illinois' Fox River. In the same year of the great Chicago fire, young immigrant David Haeger founded the company, originally known as the Dundee Brickyard. The company produced the bricks that helped Chicago rise from the ashes of a mass disaster.

Over the next 130 years under four generations of family leadership, this small town brick maker became America's oldest and largest production pottery. As Chicago was able to rebuild, Haeger, with the help of one of his sons, began laying the groundwork for their company's transition from brick makers to artisans.

By 1900 the company was already making simple red clay flower pots for the florist trade. With artistic vision the company completely morphed from Haeger Bricks to Haeger Potteries. In 1912 they introduced a more sophisticated line of glazed art ware.

Haeger's famous glazes were frequently imitated but never successfully copied and the company's wares were always made by expert craftsmen. Public demand for Royal Haeger artware was immediate and strong. Vintage Haeger holds a strong position in today's American pottery collectables market.

They are are an excellent for a wadding gift and very spacial !!!!
