Are they not beautiful? On the exquisitely shaped vamp, Gemstones, Crystal beads and golden burnished embroidery create a stunning pattern and color palette. The elegant Satin covered stiletto heel and delicately shape sling-back strap elevate the style quotient of this beautiful design. They are pristine. A Shoe Case and Cloth Shoe Protector Pouch are of course included with your purchase -- Manolo Blahnik was born in the Canary Islands. His Czech father's family owned a pharmaceutical firm in Prague, and his Spanish mother's family owned a banana plantation in the island city of Santa Cruz de la Palma. After earning degrees in Literature & Architecture from the University of Geneva, studying Art in Paris, working as a buyer for "Zapata" and writing for L'Uomo Vogue, he met Diana Vreeland in 1970; the editor-in-chief of U.S Vogue, while he was travelling in New York. She admired his shoe sketches and advised him to concentrate on designing footwear. Thank goodness he followed her advice. His boutiques not populate London, New York, Las Vegas, Dublin, Athens, Madrid, Istanbul, Dubai, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore, Stockholm and Dubai, and his iconic footwear designs are carried by top-tier retailers in the United States. One of Blahnik's greatest inspirations was his mother. Blahnik and his family often travelled to Paris and Madrid to order clothes. His mother, always dissatisfied with the shoes produced in their hometown, made her own. Learning the rudiments of her craft from a local Canary Island cobbler, Blahnik as a boy loved to watch his mother when she made beautiful shoes. Later, while attending university, he lived with his aunt and uncle. His aunt deeply influenced his fashion sense, refining his tastes and encouraging his appreciation of the beauty of luxury, art, and happiness. He recalls that according to his aunt, "happiness was having the single most elegant handbag ever made, in every color available." Blahnik learned the skills of shoe making by visiting shoe factories and talking to pattern cutters, technicians and machine operators. He sketches the design and hand crafts each prototype; carving the wooden mast and sculpting the shoe on to the form. At mass production, he oversees every step to ensure each shoe is an exact copy of his original creation. He keeps every one of his designs. At last count, 25,000 shoes were arranged in sequential order in paneled cupboards that fill up two adjoining houses in a Georgian terrace in Bath. He continues to delight us with his designs which are kept to small exclusive production numbers.
