A uniquely simple and sophisticated celebration of nature
Held at the Calistoga Ranch in Napa, California and photographed by the talented Sabine Scherer, Rob and Emily’s outdoor wedding ceremony and minimalist reception used simple and elegant green design principles. Everything from their invitations to their table settings to Emily’s unique Carmen Marc Valvo wedding dress showcased an extraordinarily sophisticated and sustainable take on wedding style. Let’s crash the party and take a peek… <!–more–>
The ceremony site was completely unadorned, letting nature step in as decorator.
The Calistoga Ranch is known for its lush green open spaces, and the couple took full advantage of the gorgeous landscape to take these sweet photos. Emily DIY-ed most of the wedding’s decor, including the programs and signage below.
Lit mostly by candlelight, the reception tables are fit for an elegant Roman banquet. This organic, cave-like space creates instant warmth and intimacy for guests. The wedding cake at the back of the room is the only decoration needed.
The wonderful, whimsical cake topper is one of my favorite elements here. A rock ‘n roll bird bride and groom? Too cool. It’s by Etsy seller Rainsend.
Simple, sophisticated food lends elegance and style to the reception. Calistoga’s kitchen uses mostly organic and local ingredients, including produce from its own on-site organic garden.
The table is adorned with minimalist, all-natural decorations that are neutral in color and heavy on texture. So different than most of the weddings we see, these centerpieces don’t just make you want to look at them, but also to touch, feel, examine and play. Very unique and inspired!
