Inspiring Eco-Friendly Wedding Jewelry from Turtle Love Committee
Turtle Love Committee, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: I love thee for thine completely awesome business philosophy: “We like our planet. We support independent artisans. We think less is more.”<!–more–>
I love thine engagement and wedding rings, almost all priced at $200 or less. Why aren’t there more affordable engagement rings like these around? TLC Founder Adrianne Zahner says, “The rings that you choose to symbolize your commitment should honor your lifestyle and your relationship, not some weird calculus of how much to spend or how big the stone should be.” Right on.
I love thine badass founder Adrianne, who noticed while working for a Boston law firm that all of her colleagues were sporting near-identical engagement rings. So she sought a unique, Earth-friendly, sane alternative to pricey DeBeers-inspired bling, and Turtle Love Committee was born.
I love thee for expanding beyond wedding rings to carry a full line of super-stylish jewelry for all occasions. My fave bridesmaids gifts ever (Turtle Love, why couldn’t we have met when I was wedding planning!?) are these handmade, hand-inked miniature lithograph necklaces made by a husband-and-wife artist team from Santa Fe. I used to be a printmaker and can tell you that creating these little works of art is a labor of love — and they’re only $50 each!
And finally, I love thee for thine excellent collection of affordable and eco-friendly men’s wedding bands, like this classic hammered silver ring, priced at just $70.
Thank you TLC, for being so gosh-darn loveable, for championing hardworking artisans, for giving engaged couples more socially conscious options, and for helping blaze the trail for cooler, saner wedding jewelery. You are officially on Recycled Bride’s short list of absolutely fantastic things that we adore!
