The Fashion Count

Every Friday, our team will compile the most exciting fashion news from around the world, and share it right here on the Tradesy blog. Catch up on the latest with this week’s Fashion Count:

7.1 – The percent decrease in Coach Inc.’s share price as of Wednesday, according to Business of Fashion. Coach says that a lack of holiday traffic in their retail stores was in part due to the weather, especially in their outlets, which drive a large portion of sales.freja-beha-ericsen-coach-spring-2014-campaign-656x429 copyCoach

11 – The number of months since André Leon Tally left Vogue. The former Editor at Large is now artistic director of Zappos Couture, Zappos’ lesser known site for high end merchandise. Zappos Couture has struggled to attract designer vendors since it launched in 2004, so Tally’s rolodex will undoubtedly prove invaluable. (via The New York Times)

15 – The number of days until the 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. Participating American olympians will don uniforms designed by Ralph Lauren. The ensemble consists of patchwork americana sweaters worn with turtlenecks underneath, athletic track pants tucked into cable knit socks, black leather boots with red laces, and a beanie to top it off. Ralph Lauren never disappoints with patriotic wear! Men’s, women’s, and children’s styles are available on the Ralph Lauren website. (via Refinery 29)

65 – The pairs of sneakers presented in Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring 2014 Couture Collection for Chanel. Each look, including floor length dresses, was paired with tennis shoes! But these were no ordinary sneakers, they were embroidered, encrusted, lace lined, and some were even made of iconic Chanel tweed. Don’t get too excited, though, because the only way to get these sneakers is to purchase an entire Chanel haute couture look, starting at $15,000! (via StyleCaster)

4,000 – The amount of smoky gemstones on a particular gold dress in  Valentino’s Spring 2014 Couture show. It took 2,500 hours for the seamstresses to attach the stones to the dress! The collection was composed of 55 looks inspired by 55 different operas and their protagonists. Check out the looks below and on Style. (via

10,000,000 – The number of GIFs on Pinterest (they appear as static images) that will be retroactively animated. Pinterest announced on Thursday that users will now be able to pin GIFs to the site. (via Mashable)

14,000,000 – The amount of money recently raised by startup e-commerce site Lyst, bringing their total funding to 19 million. Lyst works by gathering products from other shopping sites to provide a customized feed for its users. They plan to connect with shoppers in a new way this year: sending push notifications when users enter a store to alert them if a product is in stock. What do you think?! (via Fashionista)
