Abercrombie & Fitch has recently come under fire due to an accusation that the retailer hires employees based solely on their appearance. Ummmmm…yeah!
This has been going on for years, and frankly, if I’m being completely honest, and admittedly superficial and vacant, it’s the only reason I walk into the store in the first place.
I mean, yes, am I offended that they would never hire someone who looks like the average American to peddle their cheaply made garments constructed entirely by under-paid workers in China and Guatamala? Sure. Is it appalling that qualified applicants get turned away regularly because they aren’t considered “hot enough”? Of course. And no, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anything sold by a company that participates in such reprehensible hiring practices.
But damn…those boys sure are pretty.
