6 New Years Fashion Resolutions For a Killer Wardrobe

New year, new you.

This year, we’re giving our closets a makeover. Fashion isn’t just about those “I MUST have that dress” moments – when we look good, we feel good. In 2014, we’re improving the relationship we have with our clothes, no matter how scary it is (goal jeans, we’re talking to you), by following a few new rules:

1. Make a shopping list.
A good wardrobe begins with a solid foundation. Look at your closet and make sure you have what you need – perfectly fitted t-shirts, quality shoes, a go-to pair of jeans, that LBD… you get the idea. You’re bound to be missing a few must-haves. Before rushing out on a shopping spree akin to buying groceries on an empty stomach, make a list of all the items to look. Your wallet will thank you.

2. If it doesn’t fit, sell it on Tradesy.
If your clothes don’t fit quite right (oh hi, saggy pants) you’re either not going to wear them, or you’ll pick them up when everything else is in the laundry and the whole day will just feel off. 2014 is the year of the perfect wardrobe – it’s time to adorn ourselves with pieces that make us happy and confident. When you sell clothes online on Tradesy, you’ll have money to put toward a closet full of clothes you know you want and the tools to get there. It’s your one-stop shop for everything from basics to the biggest trends and exclusive luxury fashion.

3. Fashion is fun – experiment!
There are people who think clothes are meant to simply keep you, well, clothed. We see them as forms of expression. If you were into a bold 2013 trend like those floral MC-Hammer-esque pants but weren’t sure if it was you, here’s our advice: try anything once. If it’s not for you, just move on! Get it out of your system then return it or sell it – no questions asked!

4. Invest in quality pieces.
Price tags that seem too good to be true usually are, so no more cheap materials and shoddy craftsmanship. Choose a well-made blouse instead of three blouses that won’t last past a few wears; it’s eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and will make each piece in your closet truly worth wearing. Choosing quality over quantity doesn’t mean splurging every time you shop. Tradesy is a community of women offering quality designer fashion for up to 90% off retail.  Pick pieces that go with any outfit and complement constantly changing trends.

5. Refresh!
In fashion, tastes change quickly, so go through your closet each season. If you no longer wear it, why not list it on Tradesy? With the money you make, you’ll be able to buy another outfit that works better for you. This way, you’re not spending money or wasting clothes. It’s like guilt-free spring-cleaning!

6. Take your time.
There’s a reason why throw everything out and start from scratch isn’t on this list. The closet of your dreams is built over time. What’s that saying… Rome wasn’t built in a day? Same thing here.

Stick to these resolutions and you’ll step out in the perfect wardrobe in 2014!
