Every Friday, our team will compile the most exciting fashion news from around the world and share it here on the Tradesy blog. Catch up on the industry’s breaking headlines with our latest Fashion Count:
50 – The price, in dollars, of Christian Louboutin’s debut nail polish collection, which is the most expensive polish on the market put forth by any luxury brand. This week, the shoe icon confirmed that he’s launching a beauty line with 30 nail colors as the first products to be released on August 31st. As fashion history has it, a young Louboutin originally used nail polish to paint the sole of a heel in progress in an effort to make the style pop. That painted sole, of course, went on to become his crafty signature. The entire series of nail lacquers will be available for purchase at the end of next month, but the Rouge Louboutin shade (bottled with a cap that’s 8 inches long to match the length of the heel on Louboutin’s Ballerina Ultima pump) is for sale now on Saks.com.
7– The number of Stella McCartney campaigns that Kate Moss has starred in. For fall, McCartney herself styled Moss in a series of ads shots by the legendary fashion photog duo, Mert and Marcus. These images mirror McCartney’s longstanding ‘collage’ ad aesthetic, featuring a blonde Moss in a zipper-framed window, modeling chunky sweaters, eyewear, and brogues. Also artfully on display is the brand’s new line of star-printed accessories.
70- The ‘It’ decade trending in fashion today. According to forecasters at Fashionista, the 1970s are back in style, yet again, with bucket bags, bangs, and fringed clothing taking over. Spotted recently on runways, celebrities, and magazine pages, understated cuts are combining with easy fabrics for a relaxed look that’s reminiscent of the decade’s androgynous hippie vibe. We welcome back Jane Birken’s classically casual flared-jeans-and-T ensemble— it’s the coolest outfit to rock through the upcoming transition from summer to fall.

631 – The number of ad pages in Vogue’s September issue. Although it may sound high, this number is actually a drop from Vogue’s record-breaking 661 pages last year. Still, it’s the thickest magazine from any publishing house to be hitting the stands in August. This year’s runner up is InStyle magazine, which is published by Time Inc., with its adverts totaling 485 pages.

25 – The number of pieces in Roland Mouret’s new capsule collection for Banana Republic. The French designer has taken BR’s luxurious-looking, bistretch Sloan fabric and hand-draped it to shape his iconic hourglass skirts and dresses. Our favorite pieces from the collaboration include the black sleeveless lace panel dress, the sheath dress, the cropped short-sleeve poplin top, and the high-waisted black legging. All 25 pieces officially go on sale on August 7th on BR’s website and in select BR stores, but until the 5th, you can shop an online presale where 2 items will be available for purchase per day.
