Kate & Matt’s New England Fairy Tale Wedding

A Beautiful Boston affair overflowing with dramatic calla lilies

Kate and Matt’s Boston wedding was a picturesque, elegant event filled with understated touches of grand style. The traditional style was perfectly suited to the couple, who have known each other their entire lives. Their mothers have been great friends since college and got to see their children get married!  <!–more–> With a muted palette of ivory, yellow and green, and incredible views of the city and harbor from the gorgeous State Room, this classically beautiful wedding was like a fairy tale! And it was captured exquisitely by East Coast and international shutterbug Laura Parent of Relive Photography.

Gorgeous calla lilies were *everywhere*! From the bridal bouquets to the chuppah to the cake, florist Michelle Bernard did a fabulous job incorporating chic, modern, pretty arrangements into all parts of the wedding.

Jennifer & Matthew’s Rustic Lakefront Wedding

Here’s a beautiful country wedding with a Southern twist that was sent over from Cameron + Kelly Studios. Jennifer and Paul’s wedding was an infusion of Champagne, blush and ivory roses with cotton blossoms and a relaxing charm surrounded by large pine trees. Amongst the background of trees and moss at the Mormon Lake Lodge in Northern Arizona, event planner Peak Events and Kim from KD Event Designs created elegance out of the rustic nature. <!–more–>

The couple’s favorite detail of their wedding were the love letters used throughout the ceremony and dinner. A collection of love letters written by Matthew were printed by the bride’s father and folded into each ivory napkin. Every guest had a different letter to read and it was by far, the most unique detail to their wedding.

Enjoy the love and rustic charm!

Joanna & David’s Simply Elegant Fall Wedding

A perfectly gorgeous affair that’s focused on family and fun

When Amber Gustafson of Amber Events talked to lovely bride Joanna about her wedding day vision, it quickly became clear that Joanna wanted to keep things simple. She didn’t want a guestbook, cake knife, toasting glasses, cake topper, favors, garter, or many other traditional wedding accoutrements, but instead wanted to focus on the experience of just being with her family and friends and creating a night to remember. <!–more–>  So Amber planned a celebration that was all about simple beauty, using elegant ivory and metallic details to set off the natural beauty of Autumn at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. The stunning photos are by Raya Carlisle of Raya Photography.

Don’t you just love Joanna’s bold bridal accessories? They’re finds from Neiman Marcus. Her dress was custom made by Jose Flores, a Hollywood tailor famous for working with Monique Lhuillier and designing incredible one-of-a-kind gowns. Joanna worked with Jose to design the dress, and bought the buttons at M&J Trim in New York. Her veil was also custom made by Pol Atteu Couture in Beverly Hills. I just love when brides do something unique with their attire and support the local economy!

David is one of the sweetest grooms ever! While watching a football game with his groomsmen before the wedding, he sent gifts to Joanna’s bridal suite, including a pair of diamond earrings and a Packer’s jersey with her new last name on it.

Aside from a few toasts, the evening was free of the formalities that accompany most weddings. Joanna and David even quietly cut the cake in the corner with just their parents and photographers as they did not want to stop their 160 guests from dancing and enjoying themselves.

Many many thanks to Raya Photography for sharing these incredible pics, and congrats to the beautiful bride Joanna and her wonderful groom David!

Kim & Adam’s Fabulous Multicultural Yacht Wedding

An extravagant affair at sea marries Vietnamese culture with Jewish tradition

The incredible photos below are by the uber-talented Table 4 weddings, and a few are by their second shooter, Kim Le of Kim Le Photography. And you absolutely must must must also watch this insanely creative video by Joe Simon of Joe Simon Productions. When the wedding video is elevated to art like this, it makes me terribly happy. <!–more–>

As the product of a multi-ethnic marriage, nothing warms my heart more than seeing a beautiful wedding that seamlessly blends and honors different cultural traditions — especially when it’s done in super-elegant style! For Adam and Kim of New York City, their dream wedding meant inviting 100 friends and family members to spend 3 days aboard the Seadream yacht, for a celebration that included a traditional tea ceremony, a ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) and a chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy), fireworks (!), lots of groovy tunes, great food, and FUN!

Cher and Ian’s Beautiful Bold & Blue Wedding

An extraordinarily pretty weekend-long celebration with unique blue-hued details

A few weeks ago, the incredible wedding photographer Laura Grier and I were catching up over sushi and sake, and she told me all about today’s gorgeous wedding. Laura wasn’t just the photographer at this even, she was also doing double duty a bridesmaid — all while wearing a blue corset and tutu! Sound interesting? It gets better… <!–more–>

Cher, who happens to be a doctor of emergency medicine (only in Beverly Hills could an ER doc be such a total babe!), married her adorable marketing exec groom Ian, at the Shady Oaks Winery in Napa Valley, CA. The entire bridal party spent the weekend at the winery’s main estate, enjoying croquet tournaments, wine and cheese tastings, pool parties and more. The wedding was filled with amazing personalized and creative details, from Cher’s layered blue petticoats to plantable wildflower seed-infused paper programs to centerpieces made of books, apples and flowers. A million thanks to Laura and her Beautiful Day Photography for sharing the fun with us!

Sarah & Brad’s Eco Tropical Fairy Tale

A sustainable San Diego wedding filled with exotic succulents and DIY details

Sarah and Brad always thought they’d get married in Hawaii. But when they found Paradise Gardens, they realized that they could achieve their vision of getting married in a tropical paradise right in their hometown of San Diego. Skipping all that travel would make their wedding more sustainable, and give Sarah the chance to DIY most of the details, and throw crafting parties with family and friends to make her favors, escort cards and centerpieces. The gorgeous succulent bouquets and other floral details are by Cherry Blossom Floral Designs. The succulent-dotted cupcake tower is by Elegance on Display. The music that kept Sarah and Brad’s guests dancing all night was by their friends from the band Traildriver, and these fabulous photos were taken by  Laura Christin.

One of Sarah’s hobbies is making “cactus pizzas” — bowls arranged with a variety of succulents and cacti. So she decided to make the centerpieces herself, and let guests take them home as momentos. This is a budget-friendly, zero-waste way to do centerpieces!

Marissa & Brandon’s Multi-culti Multicolor DIY Fiesta

Buttons, pinwheels, and other whimsical details decorate a sweet wedding playground

Part global culture-fest, part childhood carnival fantasyland, Marissa and Brandon’s color-infused wedding is an exuberant feast for the eyes! Bay Area photographer Rhee Bevere captured every sweet detail, from the DIY button bouquets and origami ceremony decor to the butterflies and ice cream truck that transformed Nestldown retreat into a fairy tale wedding locale. <!–more–>

a-4

The bouquets are made entirely from buttons. Below, Marissa’s bridesmaids give her a big kiss to thank her for choosing those totally adorable, wearable dresses. Marissa’s no slouch in the style department — the bridesmaids dresses and men’s suits are all in tasteful neutral shades of gray, which lets all of the rainbow-colored details and accessories shine without clashing. Brilliant!

2

Marissa’s wedding dress is by Melissa Sweet, and looks like it was designed just for her. What a gorgeous fit! The stunning bride is half Japanese, and her super-handsome groom is half white, half African-American. Keep your eyes peeled for details that honor their own cultures — and others.

a-5

Notice all of the different, colorful ties that the groom and groomsmen are sporting. This wedding takes the idea of a color scheme and knocks it on its butt.

4

a-9

The ring pillow is also DIY and made of buttons. Favors were flip-flops embossed with the wedding’s logo.

5

a-6

Wait a minute. Above are two of the best pieces of wedding photography I’ve seen in a while. The pic of Brandon at the altar just sings with color and feeling! And I think we all need to see that image of the kiss a bit bigger…

WPW Double Header! Rock & Romance by Sarah Yates

A litte bit country, a little bit rock ‘n roll

Some people are die-hard techno fans or just love folksy rock, but my iPod’s got a little bit of everything. Similarly, I can fall in love with a homespun DIY wedding one week and an edgy punk party the next. I guess I like my wedding porn like I like my music: Eclectic. And this week, I just couldn’t choose between these two totally different weddings from uber-talented photographer Sarah Yates. So here’s one wedding that’s sweet farmland country, and another that’s all edgy Hollywood rock ‘n roll. Choose your poison. <!–more–>

First at bat: Joel and Ricci’s Rocker Glam San Diego Bash. This cool couple loves music, and their wedding at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego is a reflection of their passion for all things that rock. Like Ricci’s corseted, ruffly Betsy Johnson wedding dress.
