Lemon Sunshine: Megan & Justin’s Yellow Wedding

A Newport Beach wedding filled with sunny joy and smiles

When I spotted Megan and Justin’s sweet and sunny wedding on OneWed, it instantly made me smile. Everything about this adorable young couple and their wedding just screams *fun*! From the bright and whimsical lemon blossom bouquets to the sunny textile prints of the tablecloths, this is a feel-good party with charm to spare. Talented up-and-coming photo Alicia Danielle captured every detail.

The bridesmaids wore matching handmade hair accessories — they’re just like the brooch on the sash of Megan’s dress!

Justin’s super-cool, unique black wedding band is made of Tungsten, a metal that’s stronger than gold or platinum. Tungsten mining also has less environmental impact than gold or silver mining.

Megan’s dress proves that modest can be fabulous! LDS weddings call for somewhat conservative attire, and Megan rocks a sweet short-sleeved design that’s fresh, modern, and beautiful.

This is some of the most eco-friendly bridesmaids attire I’ve seen in a while. Are the dresses made of bamboo? Are they vintage? Nope. But those flattering little black dresses, cute gray sweaters, and comfy black flats are absolute wardrobe staples, which means that that these bridesmaids will *really* wear them again and again. And one of the most Earth-friendly things you can do is to extend the lifecycle of all of the products you buy — it reduces your consumption and your overall carbon footprint.

The ceremony was held in Yorba Linda, followed by a reception at a private home in Newport Beach. And did we mention the scenery??

Notice how the circles in the tablecloth match the whimsical cake design, which echoes the round shape of the lemon slices in the vase. Coordinating shapes and colors this way gives the whole wedding an effortlessly put-together vibe.

Thanks again to Alicia Danielle for sending me these pics on short notice and being such a wonderful photographer and great sport!

Fred & Kameela: Elegant Perfection

A classically elegant wedding, perfectly executed and beautifully photographed

Great chefs create recipes that support, rather than overwhelm, the taste of fresh ingredients. Some of the best architects and interior designers create spaces that are purposefully simple, carefully designed to emphasize the people and activities within. (I promise, this is going somewhere!) Sometimes the best creative moments happen when you skip the bells and whistles and design something that emphasizes its own true nature.

Fred and Kameela’s wedding is a perfect example of this. It’s a wedding that doesn’t try to be anything more, and its stylish simplicity is the perfect backdrop to showcase the obvious warmth and joy of the day. The entire event is perfectly curated and simply stunning. It’s formal without being stuffy, detailed without being overdone, and every single gorgeous photo conveys a story about this beautiful couple and their friends and family.

The pitch-perfect pics were taken by Cesar and Tanya of Perez Photography. They’re one of my faves, and the exceptional photos on their blog are great for inspiration!

Not sure if this is a relative or a friend, but very sure that this guy knows how to dress for a party. One word: Dapper. I don’t get to use that word much, and I really appreciate this guy for giving me a reason to.

The tables were named for things that were personally significant to the couple.

Lori was inspired by this wedding, which we featured a few months ago, and hired bride Alissa to create her headpiece and add colorful tulle and a bustle to her gown. Check out Alissa’s Modern Nostalgia for more cool bridal designs.

Fun personalized details! Garters with the logos of the bride and groom’s favorite teams, and cowboy boots for the bride. How great would it be to throw those boots on with a pair of jeans and say, “I’m wearing my wedding shoes today”?

Wildflowers in mason jars decorated the tables, and paper lanterns added a festive and chic touch. Both are perfect decorations for budget brides with miles of style.

Fun in the Sun Barn Wedding Inspiration!

In celebration of summer, we’re going to shake things up and share a real “fake” wedding this week! This photo shoot, set up by Christy Whitehead Photography in Jacksonville, Florida, captured the rustic charm of bandanas, boots and barn at a new wedding location, The Keeler Property.

Out in the pastures and down by the barn, the “Bride” and “Groom” had it all. The dress from Park Avenue Bridal, hair by Alison LeeAnn, and makeup by Ruthless Beauty. A Fantasy in Flowers designed the three different bouquets to play upon the rustic theme that were wrapped with bandanas, beads and rope.

Although this was a shoot, the Bride and Groom had a three tiered cake, designed in theme by Kakes by Katie, that provided for an all out cake trashing as a finale! Enjoy the photos and the fun…

Carolyn & Paul’s Romantic Philadelphia Museum Wedding

It was pure magic when Carolyn and Paul met the day before starting law school together in Philadelphia. Their life together since has been one of laughter and good times and their modern, fall wedding was the perfect mixture of all their passions.

Carolyn had picked to have the wedding at the city’s local relic, the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The museum provided a beautiful backdrop for photographer Cathie Berry-Green of BG Productions, plus it enabled the wedding to host guest in different areas throughout the day!

The ceremony took place in the beautiful cobblestone courtyard. Cocktail hour was enjoyed in the Warden Garden. Dinner was served in the high-ceiling Chinese Rotunda. And the night ended with drinks and dancing in the Upper Egypt Gallery. Floral design was provided by the talented Marybeth of Studio M Designs.

Staying true to incorporating their passions, the couple chose details that guests could thoroughly enjoy. The table “numbers” were local breweries and when guests sat down for dinner, they were enticed to a short history of each pub. The guests also received cookie cutters in the shape of leaves to carry on the fall theme. Groom Paul was pleasantly surprised to find he had his own cake with an image of Jim Morrison on it, as a tribute to his love for The Doors.

Share in the bliss of Carolyn and Paul’s wedding and enjoy the photos!

Caitlin & Justin’s DIY Owl-Themed Wedding

This super-creative wedding was sent to us by the incredibly talented photographer Jennifer Jasso, who’s a good friend of the bride and groom, Caitlin and Justin. Caitlin is a textile artist who constructed all of the unique details you see below, including the bride and groom owl dolls, candy centerpieces, invitations, photo props and cake topper.

Even Caitlin’s rhinestone owl hair clip coordinated with the day’s theme and color scheme.
