Carly & Kyle’s Gorgeously Green Vegan Wedding

An eco-beautiful affair in Pennsylvania shows off a special couple’s green values.

This incredible green wedding is best described in the words of the beautiful bride, Carly: “We really wanted our wedding to be a celebration of love and a joining of all facets of our family as well as a good representation of who we are as people. We wanted our care for animals and the environment to shine througha bit without being overt. Our favorite part of the day was having a celebration that was representative of us as a couple and something that paid tribute to our beliefs and brought people together in a meaningful, fun way. We were both so happy to marry our best friend.” <!–more–>

With photos by the lovely and talented Carina Romano of Love Me Do Photography, who will be appearing at the uber-cool Lovesick Wedding Expo on January 9th, this is one of the sweetest green weddings we’ve ever seen. Thanks to Carly, Kyle and Carina for sharing!

The bride and groom made the placecards themselves from locally grown apples. So lovely!

All of the wedding’s flowers were local and in season…and beautiful!

While the ceremony was of no particular religious affiliation, the couple included Quaker touches such as the handmade wedding certificate that was signed by each and every wedding guest.

The wedding arch that the couple stood under to be married was handmade by Carly’s step-dad out of wood from her parents’ backyard.

The couple saved on paper programs by creating a chalkboard wedding program instead.

Wedding favors were locally grown basil plants, hand-potted by the bride and groom!

Carly and Kyle also created their own centerpieces from rustic wooden pots and kale plants.

The entire menu, including the beautiful wedding cake below, was vegan. Having a vegan wedding, or incorporating vegan and vegetarian dishes, helps the environment because meat production is energy-intensive and damaging to the environment. It can also save you money, and look and taste as great as a conventional menu!

Thanks again to Carina Romano of Love Me Do Photography for sharing this fantastic green wedding with Recycled Bride!

Carolyn & Paul’s Romantic Philadelphia Museum Wedding

It was pure magic when Carolyn and Paul met the day before starting law school together in Philadelphia. Their life together since has been one of laughter and good times and their modern, fall wedding was the perfect mixture of all their passions. <!–more–>

Carolyn had picked to have the wedding at the city’s local relic, the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The museum provided a beautiful backdrop for photographer Cathie Berry-Green of BG Productions, plus it enabled the wedding to host guest in different areas throughout the day!

The ceremony took place in the beautiful cobblestone courtyard. Cocktail hour was enjoyed in the Warden Garden. Dinner was served in the high-ceiling Chinese Rotunda. And the night ended with drinks and dancing in the Upper Egypt Gallery. Floral design was provided by the talented Marybeth of Studio M Designs.

Staying true to incorporating their passions, the couple chose details that guests could thoroughly enjoy. The table “numbers” were local breweries and when guests sat down for dinner, they were enticed to a short history of each pub. The guests also received cookie cutters in the shape of leaves to carry on the fall theme. Groom Paul was pleasantly surprised to find he had his own cake with an image of Jim Morrison on it, as a tribute to his love for The Doors.

Share in the bliss of Carolyn and Paul’s wedding and enjoy the photos!

Joanna & David’s Simply Elegant Fall Wedding

A perfectly gorgeous affair that’s focused on family and fun

When Amber Gustafson of Amber Events talked to lovely bride Joanna about her wedding day vision, it quickly became clear that Joanna wanted to keep things simple. She didn’t want a guestbook, cake knife, toasting glasses, cake topper, favors, garter, or many other traditional wedding accoutrements, but instead wanted to focus on the experience of just being with her family and friends and creating a night to remember. <!–more–>  So Amber planned a celebration that was all about simple beauty, using elegant ivory and metallic details to set off the natural beauty of Autumn at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. The stunning photos are by Raya Carlisle of Raya Photography.

Don’t you just love Joanna’s bold bridal accessories? They’re finds from Neiman Marcus. Her dress was custom made by Jose Flores, a Hollywood tailor famous for working with Monique Lhuillier and designing incredible one-of-a-kind gowns. Joanna worked with Jose to design the dress, and bought the buttons at M&J Trim in New York. Her veil was also custom made by Pol Atteu Couture in Beverly Hills. I just love when brides do something unique with their attire and support the local economy!

David is one of the sweetest grooms ever! While watching a football game with his groomsmen before the wedding, he sent gifts to Joanna’s bridal suite, including a pair of diamond earrings and a Packer’s jersey with her new last name on it.

The feather placecard accents and manzanita tree are so casually elegant.

I just loooove this pretty cake! It’s by La Starr Cakes.

Aside from a few toasts, the evening was free of the formalities that accompany most weddings. Joanna and David even quietly cut the cake in the corner with just their parents and photographers as they did not want to stop their 160 guests from dancing and enjoying themselves.

Many many thanks to Raya Photography for sharing these incredible pics, and congrats to the beautiful bride Joanna and her wonderful groom David!

Fall Eco-Wedding Inspiration

Autumn is here with hot new trends in eco-chic style

A Fall wedding is a great opportunity to celebrate nature’s bounty, and this season’s green weddings are going to do it with lush, bold decor and romantic vintage style. Think tons of greenery, intense jewel-toned accents, and dramatic silhouettes. Green weddings never looked so good! <!–more–>

See where we got all of the pretty pieces for this inspiration board and what else is hot for this season’s eco weddings, in today’s post on OneWed >>

And PS, this was my very first inspiration board! Creating it gave me new respect for Kathryn over at Snippet and Ink, who puts together unique and beautiful boards day after day, week after week. It’s harder than it looks, y’all!

Charles & Rachel’s Autumn Mountaintop Wedding

The hills are alive with Fall’s richest colors at this warm vintage-inspired celebration

Rachel and Charles knew what they wanted: A warm, intimate wedding that would welcome their family and friends as well as the beginning of Autumn in the mountains of Malibu. The couple planned every detail themselves, including designing their own invitations, and drew on the natural beauty of their location for inspiration. The pics are by the talented Laura Grier of Beautiful Day Photography, who never ceases to amaze us with her keen eye for detail, color, and composition. <!–more–>

Charles and Rachel chose vintage wedding rings. Look how lovely and delicate Rachel’s pave diamond band is! Oh, and the shoes? Blahnik. Manolo Blahnik.

The ceremony and reception were held in a private residence at the top of a mountain in Malibu, California. Gorgeous!

Rachel wore her grandmother’s pearl choker as her “something old”, her mother’s pearl bracelet as her “something borrowed”, and a stunning vintage-inspired Vera Wang wedding dress. Below, the bride gets a kiss for good luck from a beloved guest.

Charlie and his groomsmen prep for the wedding. Don’t they look like a bunch of movie stars? Move over Clooney, I’ve discovered the new cast for Ocean’s 14.
