Would You Get Married Through a Mobile Service?

Tuesday Treat

We found this article “Drive By Weddings, Only in Las Vegas?” and were intrigued. A mobile service to get married in 10 minutes for under 100 dollars? How could you afford not to, right? This mobile service provides the city of Las Vegas a unique way to get married virtually anywhere in the City of Sin.

5 Ways to Make Your Wedding Greener

Tuesday Treat

1. The Ring

Whether it be a family heirloom, a vintage piece, or another gemstone, the ring is one of the most important parts of your engagement. It is the delicate piece that is with you as a daily reminder of the love you have found. There are many options for green rings. We love this delicate vintage piece we found on Tradesy Weddings.

2. The Dress

Equally as important as the ring, your wedding dress is what makes you feel the most beautiful on your special day. Finding the perfect dress to make you feel  beautiful can be a challenge. Instead of fighting the mass markets to find that overpriced, over worn piece, try a vintage or gently used option. There are so many beautiful dresses and not only is it a green option, it leaves a ton of green in your wallet!

3. The Venue

There are so many beautiful and extravagant venues across the globe, but equally as many beaches, state parks, local parks, and lakes. With the fees from these site rentals going right back into the community, it is a win-win for a beautiful and literally green wedding! We loved these venues!

4. The Memories

Rather than have those cheesy throw away cameras at every table and then have to actually find somewhere, most likely expensive, to get the film processed… (Where can you even do that these days?) Why not opt for a social wedding!

With each persons email RSVP, you can add them to a Flickr account where they can share their own images from their camera phones, everyone has one, even Grandpa!   This is great because every guest can see what was going on across the room while they were drinking champagne! This is also a great way for your brides friends and grooms friends to interact and form an entire network of new friends all thanks to your beautiful wedding!

5. The Gifts

With so much excess involved with weddings, why not take a moment to give back to a local charity or when registering for your gifts, opt for a greener option. There are so many possibilities and some of our favorites include: a local produce subscription, eco friendly products from stores you are registered at, or this foundation we found that donates a portion of all gift purchases to your chosen cause,  I Do Foundation.

We hope these tips were helpful to you earth conscious brides and we wish you the best on your wonderful wedding day!

World’s Cheapest Wedding Dress – Win it FREE!

Yue is a dating coach and blogger in New York City. One rainy afternoon, she grabbed a girlfriend and went goofy dress-up shopping at Nordstrom Rack. (What, you’ve never done that?)

After tying on all things sequined, frilled, and frou-frou, Yue found herself slipping into a beautiful, classic wedding dress. It fit like a glove and looked so pretty that she had to know the price, even though she has no immediate plans to get engaged or married.

That’s when she realized that the tag said $0.01. That’s right — 1 penny. Checking in with the store’s staff revealed that the pricetag was an error — but that Nordstrom Rack would honor it because it had been mistakenly placed on the floor.

So Yue bought the dress. And now she’s giving it away to one lucky winner! How’s that for paying it forward?

………………

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on Yue’s blog before 10/1/11, telling her why you want the dress. The winner gets a gorgeous gown, a great story, and one lucky dress to wear down the aisle.

Bridesmaid Attends Wedding on an iPad

Renee had wanted to be in her friend Jamie’s wedding for years. But when the date was set and she couldn’t make it, she found the next-best thing: Attending the wedding via iPad.

The iPad Renee attended with was walked down the aisle by a groomsman, placed with the wedding party during the ceremony, and was even held by the bride herself during the bridesmaids photo session! We wonder: Did Renee dance during the reception as well? It must be hard to do the Macarena via iPad!

We’re happy for everyone involved…except for the groomsman who had to walk Renee down the aisle and awkwardly hold up the iPad for the entire ceremony. What a good sport!!

Couple Gets Married By a Computer

It’s their big fat geek wedding! Houston couple Diana Wensley and Miguel Hanson weren’t married by a minister, a rabbi, or a justice of the peace. Instead, their officiant was Rev. Bit, a virtual minister designed by Hanson, who’s a web developer.

………………………….

So how did the bride feel about the virtual wedding her new husband created? “We’re both friends of the computer. So it’s kind of like our best friend is still marrying us,” the bride said. “The computer is a huge part of our lives, so why not be a huge part of this?”
