My Ex Husband is Marrying My Cousin – and I Was Asked to be A Bridesmaid?!

Wednesday – Reader Question

l_t_087

Hi.  I am not sure what to do about this.  My ex-husband is marrying my cousin.  We were only married for about 6 months when we were young but still! And I am now in a serious relationship with an amazing man so this shouldn’t bother me at all.  But the hurt is obviously still there.  We have a small family and this has definitely put a strain to say the least on my relationship with my cousin.  However, she has asked me to be a bridesmaid.  Really all of the cousins, (there are 5 of us) were asked.  I don’t want my ex to think I care, I don’t want my current boyfriend to think I care. My cousin has always been super competitive with me so I don’t want her to think I care.  But I really do not want to be a part of this wedding.  First of all is it ridiculous I care as we divorced 4 years ago.  And secondly, How can I get out of this without causing some major drama! Help!

Jason & Kisha’s Travel Themed Wedding

Jason and Kisha wanted to share their love for travel with family and friends, so they decided to marry in Costa Rica. In keeping with the travel themed wedding, they set the ambience for guests with engraved compasses, suitcases, maps and postcards. They also added details that captured the essence of Costa Rica, which was very special to them because they had taken their first trip together there.

“One of my favorite authors is Ernst Hemingway and I thought, what better theme to express who we are than a travel theme?” says Kisha. This is where she came up with the idea for integrating Hemingway into the ceremony and reception. The couple’s passion for travel spilled over into their honeymoon as well!

They split up their honeymoon into several mini-honeymoons to make the experience last longer. The week before the wedding, they relaxed in Costa Rica at the beautiful Four Seasons and following the wedding they traveled to Napa Valley for the week to experience the best of California’s wine country. A few months later, they spent time together at the Four Seasons Nevis and Singita Lodge in South Africa!

Enjoy the travels and the gorgeous photos by El Velo Photography!

How Many Ex Wives Is Too Many?

Wednesday – Reader Question of the Week

p1-wives_298x447

Q:   My boyfriend of 1 year recently proposed to me.  We are happy. completely faithful, and best friends.  He is sweet and romantic.  The problem?  He has been divorced 5 times so far.  I am the 6th!  And he isn’t even 40 yet.  This scares me.  He is my first and hopefully only!  He swears that it is different with me and I trust him.  But I can’t stop worrying if he thought this each time.  His marriages have always ended after 3 years.  He promises this is something he never felt with any of the others?  I could really use a bit of advice?  Would you ever marry someone in this situation.  I trust him, but can’t stop worrying he is incapable of lasting love.

New York Fashion Week Sneak Peek

Tuesday Treat – New York Fashion Week Special

I also got to attend the Badgley Mishka Fashion Show. There were tons of stunning MOB dresses, bridesmaid and Maid of Honor. While there were also no traditional white wedding dresses, if you ever fall in love with a non traditional wedding dress and it feels like “your dress” I say go for it.

I also discovered this new Turkish Bridal Designer at Nolcha Fashion Week during New York Fashion Week.  They hold runway shows during the main NYFW and promote and show lesser known designers. Check out Seckin Ilker. (below)

And all around Lincoln Center were these great displays of fashion items and beauty products.  These Naeem Khan dresses were also perfect for MOB, Maid of Honor or any bride who wants to step out f typical and make a huge splash. (below)

World’s Oldest Newlyweds Tie The Knot

He’s 100 years old, she’s 93. But when Forrest Lunsway and Rose Pollard got married on March 19th, they felt like a couple of kids.
“We’ve got many happy years left as I intend to stick around until I’m at least 110. You’ve got to use it or lose it,” said Forrest.

The happy couple met all the way back in 1983 at a senior’s dance (that’s right — they’ve been together and have been “seniors” for almost 30 years!) Officials from the Guinness Book of World Records are verifying that Forrest and Rose really are the oldest couple ever to marry.

They were married on Forrest’s 100th birthday, at Rose’s request. We wish this beautiful couple many more years of love and happiness! Now go watch the adorable video of their wedding ceremony.

I Slept With My Husband-To-Be’s Best Friend – Do I Have To Tell?

Wednesday – Reader Question of the Week

m217634959

Q: I am really not sure what to do?!  I am getting married next week.  My husband’s best friend since they were 5 is the best man.  He is a great guy and so is my husband to be.  The horrible thing is I slept with his best friend but before we were engaged.  It was when I was dating my husband (3 years ago), but we weren’t living together yet.  I got really drunk at a party one night (my husband to be) was away, and his best friend came over and it just happened.  We did it 3 times over the next month and promised we would keep this a secret.  We never told anyone.  We agreed we had to stop for obvious reasons.  It was just a fun thing and didn’t mean a thing.  My husband means the world to me.  His friend also means the world to him.  I don’t want to lose him and I don’t want him to lose his friend.  Do I have to tell?  I have been feeling really guilty about it lately. – Guilty,  Miami, Fl.
